Do tectonic plates move because of motion in the Earth’s mantle, or is the mantle driven by the movement of the plates?

https://www.cnrs.fr/en/what-makes-earths-surface-move It will be interesting to see what other information they get off this computer model. Might possibly help in predicting major earthquakes someday.

Interesting indeed! Wish they'd have thrown in some info about the core slowing down and how that's gonna figure in with tectonics and mantle movement.
